The guard impact distinction in past games was unnecessary and with the addition of RE, it's a welcome change for me. Throw breaks work the same so no problem there. Now throws are bound to a single button but you can still do two types by doing directional inputs. In past games his stances were good, but not THAT good, if you know what I mean. The movelist (at least for my main, Yoshi) is improved from the last iterations and he can build some interesting strings this time. For every spammer which tried to catch me with it, I stepped and punished it like no one's business. I too was really skeptical regarding RE, but it's a great tool. From my time with the network test of SC VI, the mechanics are there. I'm playing SC almost every day, be it the classics, SC BD on the Vita, or 4/5 on ps3. I can´t agree with your assessment that "the gameplay is the best it´s ever been" because there´s no way either of us has had enough time with the game to say that for certain, but ultimately I hope that you´re right and I´m wrong and the game is great. We don´t know how the game will hold up in the long term, which is why I don´t agree with reviewers trying to definitively state what´s great and what isn´t when they are only reviewing those system mechanics at the absolute most basic level. I didn´t like RE or supers in the network test, maybe a couple weeks down the line I´m singing a different tune. I think its ok to be skeptical when people with limited fighting game knowledge and a brief review period start throwing out quotes like "undoubtedly one of the finest fighting games of this generation" (see dualshockers review) when those kind of statements are impossible to determine in the short term for fighters. The wager system in Injustice suffered from similar reception down the line. It took months for most people to realize that they hate crush counters and jab anti-airs in SFV for example. Historically speaking it takes the fighting game community a fair amount of time to break down what works and what doesn´t, what they like and what they don´t like. I´ve certainly done my share of moaning about this game but its basically all precautionary.
